What Rodeo Career?

Alas, Mason's career as a rodeo clown has come to an end. After being bucked off his trusty rocking horse "Pinto," which resulted in a trip to the ER and two staples in his head, Pinto will be retired to the garage for the remainder of his days. If he were not an heirloom I would have sent him to the wood chipper. Mason is doing fine and is enjoying all the sugar he was given at the doctor's office. (Mom is going nuts because Mason is bouncing off the walls) Mason will have his staples removed in 10 days and a battle wound to show all his clown buddies.

Haley and her BFF George

Haley loves Curious George. Anything with a monkey on it becomes her new favorite item. We were at the bookstore on Saturday and Haley was scanning the books. As soon as she spotted a George book she pulled it off the shelf and began reading...out loud. Of course we had to buy it for her. This picture is Haley and George watching cartoons before bed.

Move over Blocks

We have a little red wagon full of blocks. Haley likes to climb into the wagon and throw the blocks out to make room for her bum. I finally caught her doing it. Here is the result.

Mason news: The other day we were at a friends house for a birthday party. Mason was sitting at the table eating goodies with some other kids and their parents. He was telling them about his best friend who lives across the street. The kids asked his name and Mason promptly replied, "Satan." (Keep in mind people are very religious in the south) All the parents at the table started to freak out. I couldn't stop laughing, which probably seemed demonic at the time. So, let me clear up the confusion. Mason's friend is named Sagen (Say-Jen), which I can see how that could sound like Satan when spoken in haste. I explained that to everyone in the room, but I still think some of them might think we are devil worshippers. I guess we won't be getting invites from that group of friends anytime soon. Poor Mason!

Birthday Girl

Today is Haley's Birthday....HOORAY!!! We took some friends to the Little Scoops Ice Cream Parlor. Everyone got to try some delicious ice cream, with sprinkles of course, then we played in their party room. The boys had a blast but Haley was playing ball hog. I couldn't decide which video's to post so this might be overkill. The boys were cracking me up with their rolling trick.

Here is my little ball hog. She ran over to me to hide her treasure.

No party is complete without a little disco light show.

ZZZzzzz

This morning I turned on cartoons in Mason's room so I could do some cleaning in the front room. Haley, deciding she needs to follow Mason everywhere, plopped herself in Mason's rocking chair to enjoy watching Dora with him. I guess she was a little tired or Dora was boring, because she feel asleep. This is funny for two reasons; first, because she fell asleep and second, because Mason used to sleep in this rocking chair when he was her age. I love my kids!

What were you thinking?

Mason is having a really bizarro day. Every time I turn my back he's doing something...creative. Earlier he was in his room playing. It was kind of quiet, which usually means he's up to no good, so I went to check on him. I found the playdough out and the container of pink playdough empty. Upon further investigation I found several objects stuck to the back of Mason's closet. He said playdough was tape. (Yes the black thing is a toy bug).

Later, while John and I were watching a movie, Mason was playing in his room again. This time he came out wearing a poptart. I don't know if this is a belated Halloween costume, but I'm sure poptarts weren't meant to be mustaches.

Tastes like Chicken

I decided since Haley has learned how to climb out the doggy door, that we better go explore the backyard. While I was watching Haley learn how to walk in the grass, Mason found something else that I thought was quite entertaining. Mmm tastes like chicken!!!

Welcome Home Grandpa

On Monday September 22, Orval Gillen went home to his Father in Heaven. Funeral services will be held Thursday. John's Grandpa was a good man. I remember his jokes, his good cooking, and his ability to fix anything. While living in Pennsylvania, we were fortunate to have Grandpa visit for a few days and help us with our home renovations.

We will miss you but we know we will see you again. Give our love to Grandma.

DON'T WALK

So...my 10 month old has decided she needs to keep up with her brother. In order for her to do this, she needs to learn how to walk. Today she took her first step. This all started a few days ago when she learned to stand, in the middle of the room, with no support. The key to this ability is she must be holding something in each hand. I'm not sure if these "items" are used for balance, or simply security. Maybe they will be used as projectiles later if her brother gets out of hand. Anyway, Haley has decided I don't have enought to worry about so let's add walking baby to the mix. I thought I'd have a few more months before starting my exercise program of toddler chasing. Hooray for my smart little girl!!!

Mason and Sanga have taken to "critter" chasing. Sanga enjoys the squirrels that live in our trees and Mason likes the frogs and lizards that run into the bushes as you walk by. As long as they stay outside, I encourage all critter chasing. Mason just needs to learn to stay away from the ant hills.

Hooray for Internet!!!

We finally have Internet and TV again. It has been almost two weeks and we were starting to go nuts. Oh the joy of moving!!! I'm sorry if we haven't responded to e-mails, we will get to them shortly. Florida is beautiful and we are adjusting quickly. Mason loves having a backyard to run wild in. He also enjoys dragging the dog around by her leash (I have hidden the leash.) Haley likes all the new spaces to explore and new surfaces to climb on. While John's mom was here we were able to drive to the beach. We had fun looking for shells and watching the surfers crash in the waves. I think we may become beach bums.

East Coast Bound...again!

It looks like we're bound for the east side again. John's company has promoted him and asked us to move to Florida so off we go again. On August 13th we will pack up and drive to Jacksonville, FL. We are nervous and excited. We will be about an hour from Disney World so of course there is an open invitation to all friends and family who want to come visit and stay a bit. We will miss Utah but I think leaving this time will be easier. Everyone keep in touch!

Mason's 3rd Birthday

We took Mason to Kangaroo Zoo in Pleasant Grove, UT for his b-day. This is the extremely tall slide that my daredevil went down. This place is awesome and we would definately go there again.

BlankPark Zoo

We took a trip to the zoo in Des Moines, IA. I had never seen Jellyfish before. Mason loved all the fish.

Hotel Living

Outside our Hotel in Des Moines, IA we found a bird and her babies. This was the first warm day of the year.
